In March, the European Court of Justice is set to rule on whether or not it's legal to consider gender when calculating car insurance claims .
An article appearing on moneysupermarket.com has questioned whether it is really sexist for women to pay less cover than men.
"The reason for this discrepancy in costs is that men are statistically more likely to have an accident when driving than women," the website explained.
It added: "If the court finds that gender discrimination within car insurance is illegal, then men may find their premiums fall."
The decision is set to be made by the European Court of Justice on March 1st.
Earlier this week, moneysupermarket.com said that car insurance customers convicted of driving, or attempting to drive, while under the influence of drugs could see the cost of their car insurance premiums increase by as much as 78 per cent.
Worse still, it warned that some may find they have difficulty insuring themselves in the future
