Britons seeking secure car insurance cover from swiftcover.com will be subject to additional background checks, the company has confirmed.
A representative from swiftcover.com said that this could keep premiums down in the future.
Steve Gaywood, counter-fraud and compliance manager at the company, observed that the automatic check of people's claims histories will help identify those who try to "buck the system".
"It is not fair that safe, law-abiding drivers should pay higher premiums to subsidise people who lie about their previous claims to get cheaper insurance," he commented.
Meanwhile, AA Insurance revealed recently that the cost of car insurance for young drivers has increased significantly over the past few months.
The cost of policies is rising at its fastest-ever rate in the 16 years that the organisation has been tracking such figures.
Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, added that the price of a typical insurance policy rose by over 30 per cent in the past year, with the average premium costing about £704.
