Northern Ireland motorists pay more for their car insurance than the rest of the UK, according to a new report.
The Consumer Council survey revealed that drivers in Northern Ireland paid an extra £287 on average, BBC News reported.
Further to this, the highest price was found in Newry, followed by Londonderry, Armagh and Belfast.
By shopping around for better deals, the report suggested that drivers could save as much as £260.
The Northern Ireland car insurance market was affected by consumer inertia and higher premium costs, the report observed.
In addition, it noted that a lack of competitiveness in the local insurance market meant drivers in Northern Ireland were paying more.
Meanwhile, lovemoney.com journalist John Fitzsimons recently reassured Britons that they can take steps to keep their premium to a minimum.
He said that additional driving qualifications can help newly-qualified motorists to reduce costs.
Mr Fitzsimons also observed that fancy car modifications will actually add to your premiums.
