Road accidents that result in car insurance claims are more likely to occur on a Friday afternoon in November than at any other time of the year, new research has revealed.
According to statistics released by Accident Exchange, 9.2 per cent of all incidents are recorded during this month and 17.9 per cent happen on Fridays.
Lee Woodley, spokesman from the company, commented: "The statistics are just a word of warning at a time when driving conditions start to change for the worse for the winter months or so."
The spike in crashes is partially attributed to deteriorating weather and evenings getting darker earlier.
Remaining vigilant and being aware of the changing conditions are the best ways to minimise the risk, Mr Woodley said.
This comes after research by Admiral Insurance found that 78 per cent of Britons still worry about car crime.
However, the percentage of customers who have had their car stolen is less than half what it was five years ago.
