60-year-old women are charged as much as £80 more than men for their car insurance, new research has found.
Indeed, according to Which?, older women drivers are paying more for car insurance than their male counterparts.
"All of the five big name premium providers we looked at charged more for a 60-year-old woman than for a 60-year-old man - even though their details were identical," Which? explained.
"The quotes varied from a one per cent increase for the female quote from Privilege to a hike of 28 per cent from Admiral ."
To reach this conclusion, Which? said that it used a price comparison website to get quotes for two drivers with the same car, same no-claims history and same driving experience.
In fact, the only difference was the name and title: a 'Mr' and a 'Miss'.
This comes after a report produced by confused.com found last week that men are three times more likely than women to hold a conviction for uninsured driving.
