Car insurance help for mothers

In the wake of Mother's Day, an insurance expert has advised children and spouses to make sure their mothers have the right car insurance policy .

According to financial research company Defaqto, cars play an essential role in the lives of mothers, so it is important that they get the right courtesy car for their needs when it is provided.

Matt Ward, wealth management consultant at Defaqto, also stressed the importance of mothers having travel arrangements in the case of an accident .

He said: "While most policies provide cover to take her car away, many do not provide any assistance for alternative travel arrangements.

"Look out for an 'accident transportation' service to take her and her passengers away from the scene of the accident safely."

A recent report from AA insurance found that male motorists were one and a half times more likely to have a driving conviction that female ones, although the gap between the two sexes has closed in recent years.
