Defaqto has launched a new tool that will help car insurance companies improve the way in which they meet the requirements of their target consumer markets.
It will help them by identifying the consumer appeal specific product features and enable them to filter results by age, gender, affluence and claims history.
Research by the company has found that not losing a no claims discount or being liable for higher premiums if damage is not the driver's fault is the most sought after benefit among motorists.
Brian Brown, head of research at Defaqto, explained how the research was compiled after seeking the views of 5,000 consumers.
He added: "This has enabled us to get very rich information about their preferences which we have integrated into our Aequos Online software .
"Our analysis offers product providers a unique opportunity to understand which product features are most valued by certain consumer types which will assist them to optimise all parts of the product lifecycle, from product development to underwriting, and from marketing to customer services ."
Another study by Defaqto recently found that many motorists are missing out on claims for damage resulting from potholes .
