A car insurance company has given advice to motorists considering putting a flag on their car during the World Cup .
With England's journey in the tournament getting underway on Saturday (June 12th), it is expected that many drivers will show off their patriotism through the use of a St George's flag.
M&S Car Insurance said that it is important not to place the flag where it might obstruct the view of the driver, while also reminding people to take the flag off a window when a vehicle is parked as leaving it may help car thieves break in.
Andrew Ferguson, M&S head of general insurance, said: "Many motorists and their families will be keen to demonstrate their support for England by placing a flag on their car.
"While it can be a popular way for fans to show their support, we are asking motorists to be aware of the safety issues to ensure they avoid any unnecessary accidents on the road."
The World Cup is set to get underway in South Africa tomorrow (June 11th), when the hosts take on Mexico .
