Car insurance customers given breakdown cover advice

Tue, 01 Jun 2010

Car insurance customers in Scotland have been urged to consider their breakdown cover options ahead of any summer getaways .

Research by the Bank of Scotland has found that 31 per cent of people who have had a car breakdown in the past five years did not have any cover for it, with many of these motorists believing they had a reliable vehicle .

Lisa Stephenson, head of customer experience for marketing and communications at the Bank of Scotland, explained how motorists could benefit from the company's Ultimate Reward Current Account, which includes car breakdown cover, as well as mobile phone insurance and other protection.

She added: "For a fee of £12.50 a month, the Ultimate Reward Current Account gets round the hassle of securing separate cover by offering a package of benefits all in one place.

"The account also offers a £5 reward every month if you pay in £1,000 or more into your account."

As well as the breakdown cover, the Ultimate Reward Current Account also gives customers 15 per cent off a Halifax car insurance policy .

Confused.com recently suggested that motorists could save money on their car costs by purchasing an insurance policy that includes breakdown cover.
