A new report has identified the roads that car insurance customers may want to steer clear of in order to avoid having to make claims .
The Road Safety Foundation's annual survey has shown that A537, from Macclesfield to Buxton, is the most persistently dangerous road, with the A18, between Ludborough and Laceby, the most high risk.
Overall, it was found that ten per cent of Britain's motorways and A roads have unacceptably high risk, meaning more claims on an insurance policy might be possible on them.
Dr Joanne Hill, director of the Road Safety Foundation, said: "This years report shows that not only can Britain reduce roads deaths and serious injuries but that, by targeting a relatively small mileage of high risk roads, we can do so with good economic returns.
"Too often we pay for emergency services, hospitals and care for the disabled rather than taking easy steps to put road design faults right."
Meanwhile, a report by Defaqto recently established that around 90 per cent of car insurance policies do not provide cover for road rage incidents.
