Holiday car insurance risk reminder

Mon, 19 Jul 2010

A car insurance company has reminded motorists of the increased risk of accidents around key days during the holiday period.

AXA has claimed that statistics show that ten per cent of people have had an accident on the way to or from a holiday .

Furthermore, accidents are up by 8.5 per cent on Fridays compared to the rest of the summer holiday period, with September 3rd expected to be the worst day this year.

Craig Staniland from AXA car insurance said: "We would urge people travelling over the holiday period to take every care to prepare properly and drive safely. The majority of accidents are down to driver error and often conditions when driving to and from a holiday make it all the more stressful for the driver.

"A bit of planning can mitigate some of those pressures and make it a safer journey for everyone."

Another car insurance consideration around holidays would be able to check whether a policy provides adequate cover for trips abroad .
