Temperatures might be rising, but drivers have been warned that conditions are still dangerous.

According to Sainsburys Car Insurance, an alarming number of people are willing to put their no claims bonus in jeopardy by getting behind the wheel even when a severe weather warning has been issued.

Research conducted by the provider shows 23 per cent of men and 13 per cent of women would take to the roads despite being advised not to do so.

Meanwhile, six per cent of men say they have previously driven in wintry conditions without wearing a seatbelt.

"With much of the UK continuing to experience severe winter weather our findings are a real worry," commented Ben Tyte, Sainsburys Car Insurance Manager.

"The fact that some people are still driving without a seatbelt is simply staggering, but also illegal."

Last week, Sainsbury's reported that 12 per cent of motorists admit to driving while using a non-hands free mobile phone .
