Drivers may not be able to make injury claims if their car insurance policy does not cover them adequately, according to The Injury Lawyers .
As well as the damage caused to vehicles, accidents can also lead to injuries such as whiplash for the individuals involved, resulting in a loss of earnings if the victim is unable to work afterwards, alongside costs for personal care and assistance.
Mike Gibson of The Injury Lawyers is urging policyholders to check that they are covered for this possibility.
He said: "The important point drivers need to remember is that if they do not have the required level of insurance, they are unlikely to be able to claim compensation for time off work."
The freezing conditions have already resulted in an increase in insurance claims, with Swiftcover recently revealing that claims soared in the first week of January.
As a result of snow and ice, the company received 75 per cent more claims from customers on their car insurance than in the same period last year.
