A motoring expert has given advice to car insurance policyholders who drive Toyota vehicles affected by recent safety recalls.
Approximately 180,000 of the company's cars are being recalled in the UK due to a sticking accelerator problem.
Kevin Gaskell, chairman of motoring.co.uk, believes the Japanese manufacturer is doing all it can to deal with the situation, and feels scaremongering is wrong, considering only 20 recorded incidents.
He added: "Currently Toyota customers may be confused by the flood of information they are receiving. They should follow the advice given by Toyota.
"The possibility of there being a problem with their car is very small and, as the ABI [Association of British Insurers] said today, all drivers insurance will remain valid despite the recall notice."
Toyota has also been hit by a problem affecting the Prius with reports of brake issues that could affect around 8,500 cars in the UK.
Last year, the firm struck a deal with Fortis to provide specialised car insurance to Toyota drivers, ensuring they received reliable products and service.
