With car insurance premiums rising, it is more important than ever to secure the best available deal.
To this end, an article appearing in the Daily Telegraph has advised Britons to shop around to get the best premium.
Never just accept the renewal quote you are offered, it said.
"It is always worth getting quotes from rival insurers and with several comparison websites available it won't take up too much time," the article observed.
"Be aware that the cheapest policy may not be the most appropriate. Remember to look at the level of cover as well, for instance."
Further to this, the newspaper warned that some insurers do not appear on comparison sites, which means that you have to contact them directly for a quote .
Earlier this week, AA Insurance said that the recent sub-zero temperatures had caused a 23 per cent increase in car insurance claims .
The most common snow and ice-related incidents are collisions within moving traffic, according to the insurer .
