Car insurance concerns may cause university students to think twice about taking their vehicle with them, it has been suggested.
According to moneysupermarket.com, there is a significant difference in price between leaving a vehicle in a suburban property and parking it at city centre student accommodation .
Figures released by the price comparison website indicate that individuals could pay up to £3,000 more for their policy over the duration of a university course .
Steve Sweeney, head of car insurance at moneysupermarket.com, therefore encouraged students to shop around to be sure that they are getting the best deal possible.
"Those who do decide to take their cars with them should notify their insurer so they can amend their policy details to reflect their change in living situation," he commented.
Earlier this week, the price comparison site warned that motorists are wasting £233 a year on average by automatically renewing their car cover with their existing insurer .
