Mon, 09 Aug 2010

Fortis intends to expand its range of cheap car insurance for young drivers with the acquisition of Kwik Fit Insurance Services .

Having received regulatory approval, the firm is set to increase its existing customer base of around seven million by a further 600,000.

Fortis hopes that the deal will make it easier to reach young drivers and offer them cheap car insurance . Barry Smith, chief executive of Fortis UK, described Kwik Fit Insurance as a "powerful brand" which will serve as a welcome addition to the company.

"Our businesses share similar philosophies and we believe that both our customers and our people will benefit greatly from this move," he added.

Last week, confused.com claimed that as many as 38 per cent of car insurance customers have admitted to lying in order to get a lower premium.

The website also found that men are more likely to be dishonest than their female counterparts, with nearly half admitting to fibbing to get cheaper cover.
