Car insurance customers have been reminded that there are still savings to be made if they shop around to find the best premiums.
According to moneysupermarket.com, motorists are saving an average of £224.02 on their premiums when they use the site to find a new deal.
This represents a 15 per cent increase in the savings consumers were making at the beginning of the year, and Steve Sweeney, head of car insurance at moneysupermarket.com, explained the value of looking around.
He said: "With car insurance premiums rising, it is more important than ever for people to shop around and get the best value for their money.
"The good news is that the savings that customers can make by shopping around are also increasing and now stand at £224."
The news of the savings comes despite another recent report that car insurance prices rose by a 4.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2010, with young drivers being hit the hardest.
