Motor insurance policy holders should check their cover when taking their caravan on holiday this summer, according to esure .
Bookings for caravan parks in the UK have risen by more than one-fifth meaning that two million extra holidaymakers will be taking their mobile homes with them on trips this summer, according to the motor insurance provider .
esure has advised caravan owners to remember to carry their motor insurance papers with them and also to take out breakdown cover because the weight put on a car by a mobile home can strain it if it is not properly maintained.
Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure, said: "It's crucial for anyone looking to go away on a caravanning holiday - or a UK break of any other kind - to have the right cover to protect them and their possessions if the unexpected happens.
CaravanQuoter.co.uk recently said that while caravan holidays are fun and cheap, costs can be cut even further by making sure motor insurance deals are the best available.
