AA Motorcycle Insurance has warned drivers to get used to looking out for bikes, as more and more people begin to use their motorcycles in the summer months.
Many bikers will have to get used to riding again after a spell of bad winter weather comes to an end, and similarly motorists will have to become more aware of the higher amount of bikes on the road.
Britain has 1.6 million motorcyclists and many of them will be returning to the road at the start of spring, which typically sees a rise in motor insurance claims of 40 per cent, according to research by the insurance company .
Simon Douglas, director of AA Motorcycle Insurance, says: "The skills of many motorcyclists need polishing too after a long lay-up, so it's important for both [motorists and motorcyclists] to be aware of the risks as the results can be tragic."
Motorists have also been warned of the dangers of potholes in roads caused by the recent bad weather, with new research by AA Insurance seeing motor insurance claims increasing threefold on last year.
