Sainsbury's Car Insurance has stressed the importance of child seats to its customers and urged them to ensure their provisions are in compliance with UK regulations.
The car insurance provider issued its words of warning after Child Safety Week's organisers revealed that 136,000 people have had an accident during the morning school run.
Sainsbury's Car Insurance manager, Lucy Hunter, said: "Busy roads, noisy children in the back seat, and the worry of being late can make the school or nursery run very stressful for drivers.
"Being in a routine doesn't make you immune to these distractions."
She advised car insurance customers to stay more alert and focused at this time of day than ever.
The motoring expert added that research has revealed that parents are not ensuring their children are properly secured in their car.
School run car insurance customers were warned by Ms Hunter that doing so is essential, not just for children's safety but to comply with the law in this area.
Another study undertaken by Sainsburys Finance revealed recently that 4.5 million Brits plan to purchase a second-hand car over the next few months.
