Those seeking to offset their vehicle's carbon emissions through their car insurance can now do so through new options available from ibuyeco.
Every time a motorist buys new car insurance or renews their policy, ibuyeco donates £5 to charities such as the Woodland Trust, Borneo Orangutan Survival and The Converging World, depending on the choice of the customer.
The car insurance firm said that the introduction of the donations comes after feedback from motorists already using the service, while the charities were chosen in a poll.
Lucy Bailey, senior marketing manager for ibuyeco, said: "The green agenda is now part of the mainstream and consumers are demanding products that are not only high quality and good value, but also environmentally responsible."
Those looking to trade their car in for a more environmentally-friendly pushbike may be interested in recent research by insurance provider More Than, which found that residents of Liverpool are the most honest and trustworthy when walking past an unattended bicycle .
