As Fathers Day approaches (June 21st), new research by car insurance provider Motors.co.uk has found that dads spend a whole six months of their lives as a taxi service to their children.
In the poll of 973 fathers, it was revealed that dads travel an average of over 56,000 miles taking their kids to school, sports clubs and social events in the first 18 years of the child's life.
Some 8.3 per cent admitted that they can clock up more than 80 miles a week ferrying their children around and the car insurance website said that they should be given a break this weekend.
Katie Armitage, marketing manager for Motors.co.uk, said: "This Father's Day, Motors.co.uk is calling for all dads to have the day off to spend some quality time at home with their families without a car in sight."
Car insurance provider Norwich Union recently warned that fathers working longer hours to make sure they keep their job during the recession may find themselves the victim of fatigue at the wheel.
