Price comparison site moneysupermarket.com has unveiled a new service for those who prefer to deal with getting a car insurance quote over the telephone.
After searching for the best deals on car insurance over the internet by putting in all the relevant information for a quote, the site's Prefer to Phone service now lets customers complete the transaction via other means.
Car insurance policy hunters are given a special reference number which allows their chosen cover provider to quickly access and consider the information the motorist has put into the site.
Steve Sweeney, head of motor insurance at moneysupermarket.com said: "We are … delighted to offer our motor insurance customers this new functionality, especially as the unique customer reference number means that the whole process will be seamless for customers."
The Guardian recently found that existing car insurance customers are paying more than they would if they were a new customer with some firms, citing the AA as an example.
