Coronation Street fans looking to cut the cost of their car insurance should avoid taking a leaf out of Tara's book, one expert has warned.
In recent episodes of the soap the character has offered to give her VW Beetle to her on screen boyfriend's daughter, 18-year-old Amber.
However, Tara suggested that the pair keep the car insurance policy in her name to save money, something which Simon Douglas, AA Insurance director, points out is fraud .
"What Tara unwittingly suggested is a classic case of 'fronting', where people try to cut premiums by misleading insurers over who is the main driver or giving other false details," he said.
The car insurance firm would not pay out if there was a crash, and the policy holder could face paying tens of thousands of pounds out of her own pocket to cover the damages, he added.
Recently, the government announced a new clampdown on people who drive without car insurance.
It will now be an offence to keep a vehicle without having cover, rather than driving one.
