Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, 23, could find it all but impossible to obtain car insurance after his recent high-profile smash, according to one expert.
The Manchester United star hit two walls in a tunnel near Manchester Airport, writing off his Ferrari 599 GTB, but walking away unhurt.
However, a spokesperson for the AA told the Guardian that the crash will see his car insurance rocket, if he can find a firm willing to offer him a quote in the first place.
"The minimum age to get insured for that car would be 25 and then the best price we could find would be £44,000 but if the person had had an accident that would go up to around £100,000," he said.
Many car insurance firms would be reluctant to cover a professional footballer in the first place as they are viewed as a high-risk group, the expert added.
Tony Chilcott, head of Churchill car insurance, believes the footballer will find it hard to get cover on a 1.0 Ford Fiesta following the smash.
Last week, Confused.com announced a new ad campaign aimed at getting more people to visit its car insurance comparison website.
