Motorists must make sure they are aware of poor weather conditions before they head out driving, one car insurance expert has warned.
Speaking as large parts of the country prepare for storms, Steve Chelton, spokesperson for Swinton Insurance, explained that rain and wind can make car use much more dangerous.
"A driver's level of risk is dramatically increased when roads are wet and it is raining heavily," he said.
This means that car insurance customers should stay alert and take precautions to make their journey as safe as possible, Mr Chelton added.
People should also remember that a wet road will increase their stopping distance, the car insurance expert stated.
Last week, Hayley Parsons, chief executive of comparison website Gocompare.com, advised people to shop around for their car insurance as doing so will save them significant amounts of money.
Sticking with their current car insurance firm will see them pay more than they need to, Ms Parsons noted.
