Car insurance customers are looking to reduce the cost of driving as much as possible, according to new research.
A study conducted by Auto Trader found that 60 per cent of people have changed their behaviour to help mitigate the increased price of things such as car insurance .
The research found that more than four-fifths of people have been driving more smoothly, while 25 per cent have found a less congested route for their commute.
According to Matt Thompson, marketing director at Auto Trader, people might even look to switch vehicles as this can help save cut the cost of car insurance .
"It is no surprise that in these tough economic times, nearly 60 per cent are considering downsizing their vehicles and changing the way they drive to save expenses," he said.
He suggested people try to find a better deal on their car insurance in order to reduce expenditure further.
Yesterday, the Guardian reported comments by Tony Chilcott, head of Churchill car insurance, who warned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo could struggle to get cover after crashing his Ferrari .
