Couples who decide to tie the knot could see their car insurance fall by 16 per cent as a result, according to a new study.
Research by Confused.com revealed that people who change their status to married can shave around £34 off the cost of their car insurance.
People will not even have to change their car insurance provider to make the saving, the study found.
However, Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at the price comparison website, explained that checking other places for cover is always a good idea.
"While there are some great deals to be had, shopping around for the best deal is essential as some insurance providers are less competitive in this field than others," he said.
Yesterday, The Co-operative Insurance warned that younger drivers could be priced out of the car insurance market if prices keep rising.
The company urged young people to drive in a responsible manner to avoid this happening to them.
