Islamic car insurance firm joins comparison service

Moneysupermarket.com has added an Islamic car insurance provider to its services, the firm has announced.

Salaam Halal, which claims to be the UK's first sharia complaint car insurance service, was launched in July of last year.

According to the firm, the latest move will allow people to compare the cost of Islamic car insurance with traditional cover and dispel the myth that it is more expensive.

Bradley Brandon Cross, chief executive of the car insurance firm, said: "The exclusive launch of Salaam Halal insurance on Moneysupermarket.com forms an important part of our business strategy and will mean that potential customers can be sure they are getting the best of both worlds."

The car insurance product differs from conventional offerings in that focuses entirely on sharia-compliant investments in order to provide cover, he explained.

Meanwhile, those considering green car insurance might want to think again.

A recent study by Moneysupermarket.com found that the cost of such products is around 150 per cent higher than traditional car insurance.

The firm recommended people find the cheapest policy and then, if they so desire, donate the money they saved to an environmental charity .
