A new add-on car insurance product has been launched by RIAS, the Excess Protection Policy .
The deal is aimed at reimbursing the excess people have to pay when making a car insurance claim and costs just over 25 pence a week.
According to Janet Connor, managing director of the firm, the car insurance deal is excellent for people who are over 50 and on a fixed income or tight budget.
This is because it means they will not be left out of pocket if they have to make a car insurance claim, she explained.
Ms Connor said: "We are genuinely excited about being one of the first in the UK to offer this product to both prospective and existing motor insurance customers."
Car insurance customers who take out the deal will be safe in the knowledge they will get their excess back, she added.
Yesterday, Frances Browning, spokesperson for Direct Line Car Insurance, warned people to keep a safe distance when driving as this will help cut accidents.
