Swiftcover 'offers most competitive car insurance'

Insurance provider Swiftcover offers the most consistently competitive car insurance deals, according to new research.

Comparison site moneysupermarket.com states that, along with Kwik Fit, Swiftcover providers the lowest premiums of any insurer operating in the UK.

Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket, comments: "Swiftcover is recognised for offering value-for-money motor insurance and increased competition can only be good news for motorists facing rising petrol prices ."

However, Mr Gerrard also highlights that a number of smaller insurance providers are also providing competitive deals, partly because they have lower overheads.

Comparing over 12 million insurance quotes, moneysupermarket found the average price from both Kwik Fit and Swiftcover was £276.74, with Quinn-Direct, the RAC and Admiral also making the top five.

Speaking on car insurance more general, Mr Gerrard advised consumers to take advantage of first year discounts and argued that it may be cheaper for drivers to take out policies with new insurance providers each year, rather than renewing existing arrangements.

Swiftcover also provides a range of other insurance services, which include travel insurance, pet insurance and bike insurance .
