James and William might be two of the most popular names for baby boys, but those given the names could be grow up to be reckless drivers with more expensive car insurance, a new study shows.
According to research by car insurance comparison website Confused.com, nearly one in five James and Williams have driving convictions, compared to just six per cent of Alfies.
With girls, Ellas are most likely to have a conviction, while Chloes are least likely to.
Debra Williams, managing director at Confused.com, said: "While dangerous and careless driving has safety implications, gaining points on your licence also has a detrimental effect on your insurance premiums. On average, a driver with three points will see premiums leap seven per cent, rising to 25 per cent for six points and 50 per cent for nine points."
People with nine points on their licence will also find the number of car insurance providers willing to offer them cover drastically reduced, she added.
Last week, research by Moneysupermarket.com found that Kwik Fit and Swiftcover offer the lowest priced car insurance premiums in the UK.
