No matter what car people choose to drive, they should always shop around to find the most suitable car insurance policy, it has been claimed.
According to new research by Tesco Personal Finance, the type of drivers associated with certain cars in manufacturers' advertisements may not be accurate.
The company's study of more than half a million car insurance comparison quotes revealed that the average Porsche owner is 39 years of age, while Fiats and Peugeots tend to be driven by younger people.
Meanwhile, Tesco noted that the typical driver of the Nissan Micra - described by the firm as the "archetypal 'Granny Car'" - is 35-years-old.
Suggesting that the findings are "surprising", Paul Baxter of Tescocompare.com said that for motorists looking to purchase a Porsche need not spend as much as other Porsche (repetition) motorists on their car insurance .
"Regardless of what age you are and what car you drive - you should shop around to make sure you get the cheapest and most appropriate insurance for you," he stated.
Earlier this week, James Caldwell, director of Fairinvestment.co.uk, advised motorists to be "careful" when deciding which insurance premium to take out.
