Parents should make sure that their children are safe when travelling in a vehicle, one car insurance firm has warned.
According to Paul Baxter, director of commercial and partnerships at car insurance comparison website Tescocompare.com, making sure that children sit in the correct car seat for their age and height reduces the risk of serious injury .
Some car insurance firms even offer policies which will replace the child's seat if an accident does occur or if it is stolen, he stated.
Mr Baxter said: "Many insurers realise the importance of child safety in the car and add extra cover for child car seats which is included in your premium."
People should shop around to find a car insurance deal that offers them the features they require, he added.
Yesterday, Joanne Mallon, Sainsbury's Car Insurance manager, warned that people who do not inform their policy provider before driving abroad could find their comprehensive cover is reduced to third party only .
