Drivers look to retain car insurance no claims bonus, survey shows

Thu, 31 Jul 2008

More than two-fifths of UK drivers would rather shell out for minor repairs than lose their car insurance policy's no claims bonus, new research shows.

A study by Greenbee.com reveals that 43 per cent of people would not approach their car insurance provider after a minor mishap.

However, ten per cent of drivers stated they would always make a car insurance claim no matter how small the accident was.

A similar figure have no idea about the level of protection their car insurance offers, something which could leave them disappointed when they do claim .

James Furse, managing director, Greenbee.com said: "Our analysis of the car insurance market has demonstrated that there are issues around people's understanding of what they are covered for, with an alarming minority unaware of what level of protection they actually have."

Yesterday, Tescocompare.com urged consumers to look at the different levels of cover offered by car insurance products and not just the price.
