Carelessly following satnav instructions could lead to an increased chance of an accident and a subsequent car insurance claim, according to one firm.
A survey by NFU Mutual Risk Management Services, a car insurance provider, found that more than a quarter of drivers admitted to following GPS directions even if they thought they were taking them the wrong way or sending them into a narrow lane.
This is despite the fact that 91 per cent of drivers correctly think that rural roads are the least safe to travel on, raising the chances of them having to make a car insurance claim, or worse.
According to the firm, government statistics show that car users are three times more likely to die on a country road than an urban one.
