Two car insurance firms are celebrating the first anniversary of a product that offers drivers short-term cover.
The dayresQ product from Mondial Assistance and dayinsure.com enables people to take out car insurance cover for specific reasons, such as adding an extra driver, for a short period of time.
Simon Cook, automotive director at Mondial Assistance stated that the popularity of the car insurance product means the firms are looking to branch out.
He said: "Building on this success we are looking to create specialist products for motor bike and motor home enthusiasts, as we continue to bring innovation to the consumer insurance market ."
Yesterday, Paul Baxter, director of commercial partnerships at Tescocompare.com, urged people to shop around for car insurance.
He explained that the credit crunch means consumers should be looking to save money wherever they can.
Research by the firm found that just 32 per cent of people have switched car insurance providers in the last year.
