Motorists in the south of England and East Anglia are most likely to suffer windscreen damage, one car insurance firm has found.
The study, conducted by Churchill Car Insurance, found that these regions are most at risk due to the large amount of arable farm land close to busy roads.
According to the car insurance firm, agricultural machinery leaves debris on the road which can then damage glasswork on vehicles .
Claire Foster, spokesperson for Churchill Car Insurance said: "It is important to get windscreens fixed as soon as they are damaged, even when it is the smallest crack.
"If drivers fail to fix the damage, this could impair people's vision whilst driving."
People who claim for such damage will find that they do not lose their no claims bonus under many car insurance policies .
Yesterday, car insurance firm Admiral warned people not to leave any items on display in their vehicles as this acts as encouragement to opportunistic thieves.
