Car insurance customers with a Direct Line policy could preserve their no-claims discount even if they fall victim to vandals.
The car insurance provider said those with comprehensive cover will receive this extra service, at no added cost, from this month.
Crimes such as keying of cars as well as graffiti on cars or slashed tyres are included in the added extra.
Direct Line said deliberate damage was caused to seven per cent of vehicles last year, with those living in terraced houses and flats most at risk.
Tony Chilcott, spokesperson for the car insurance provider, said it is "frustrating and distressing" enough for a driver if their car is damaged in this way and they do not need the "added worry" of paying for repairs .
"Direct Line's enhanced benefit gives customers added protection at no extra cost and at no risk to their no-claims discount," he added.
On Friday night, suspected car vandals kicked off seven car wing mirrors in an area of Plymouth, local paper The Herald reports.
