Car insurance warning from More Than

Wed, 02 Jan 2008

The car insurance company More Than has provided a warning to motorists in the UK who are planning to drive abroad.

The motor account manager of More Than, Keith Maxwell, issued a warning to car insurance motorists that they should remember to extend their cover before they drive abroad.

Maxwell reportedly commented: "Our advice to customers is that, before you travel abroad, you should phone up your insurer and check [your level of cover]." Some insurance companies provide cover free of charge, but depending on the area and length of voyage insurers may charge.

All UK car insurance policies offer the minimum cover required by law in EU countries, according to a statement by the Association of British Insurers. Like travel insurance, many car insurance customers choose to go on holiday without extending their insurance cover, leaving themselves vulnerable in the event of an accident or theft of the vehicle.
