Car insurance cash-back offer from The Post Office

The Post Office is offering anyone who signs up for its car insurance a £50 cash-back bonus.

It is offering the deal on those taking out van or car insurance as well as for those taking out buildings and contents insurance .

Phil Ashkuri, director of insurance at The Post Office, said: "We advise people to look carefully when choosing new insurance cover as many providers may offer great promotions but the detail of the policy may not deliver the right level of cover or value for money ."

He added that there were a number of things people could do to cut their car insurance premium, including checking the level of their excess.

The Post Office says it is currently one of the fastest growing insurers in the UK and customers hold a total of 620,000 home and car insurance policies with the company .

A recent study by moneysupermarket.com found that specialist car insurance - such as women-only brands - tended to be more expensive than ordinary providers.
