Car insurance advice from Association of British Insurers

Fri, 15 Feb 2008

Recent advice by the Association of British Insurers could be useful for those UK consumers who have recently purchased a vehicle and are travelling abroad with their car .

The ABI said that travelling to countries in the EU means that the car is still covered to the legal minimum, but car insurance may not be valid when it comes to either theft or damage.

A spokesperson for the ABI, Malcolm Tarling, reportedly commented: "If your policy only covers you for the minimum legal requirement you'll have to buy an extension to cover you."
