Shop round for car insurance, young told

Fri, 01 Feb 2008

Younger drivers are still able to save on their car insurance - particularly if they are safe on the roads, one industry body says.

According to MoneyExpert.com, even people with just one or two years no-claims bonus could save money by shopping around when it came time to renew their car insurance policy .

For this reason, it said, people should not just go with the renewal quote offered by their current car insurance company .

It said that being loyal would not usually benefit the consumer so they should shop around for the best possible car insurance deal they could find.

MoneyExpert also suggests that people who were confident of avoiding accidents could cut their car insurance premiums by opting for a higher excess on their policy.

However, research by moneysupermarket.com found that anyone who was caught speeding was likely to face a massive increase in their car insurance premium.
