Job description can lead to car insurance savings

Mon, 01 Dec 2008

People could make a significant saving on their car insurance because of the way they describe their occupation, it has been claimed.

According to Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at Confused.com, their can be massive differences in cost between jobs that seem very similar.

Research by the firm found that a singer and an entertainer could find their car insurance premium differing in cost by as much as £223.

However, he warned that people should be careful to "savvy" rather than "dishonest" when it comes to car insurance.

"Therefore, it's recommended everyone shops around for their car insurance as much as possible and using a price comparison website is the best way to do this," he said.

Last week, car insurance firms Swinton and Bullseye teamed up with Comparethemarket.com to offer consumers £40 cashback.

The money will be available to anyone who takes out a policy with one of the two car insurance companies through the website before February 6th 2009.
