Motorists are being advised by a financial expert to shop around when they are looking to renew their car insurance policy .
According to Sainsbury's Car Insurance, the cost of car insurance is rising steadily but drivers could make big savings if they switch insurers.
Sainsbury's Car Insurance manager Lucy Hunter comments that car insurance premiums could increase by as much as ten per cent this year.
Furthermore, Ms Hunter remarks that motorists could reduce their car insurance premiums by shopping around, although many do not bother to do this.
"Our research shows that one in five motorists only obtained one quote the last time they bought car insurance and of those motorists who did not obtain more quotes, 19 per cent said it was because they could not be bothered or didn't have enough time," she notes.
Women pay less than men to insure their vehicle and car insurance premiums rose by only 3.1 per cent between July 2006 and July 2007 for females, compared to 5.2 per cent rise for men.
Research released by Halifax Estate Agents yesterday found many car owners have tried to stop other motorists from trying to park outside their house .
