Risk to car insurance if no seatbelt being worn

Mon, 17 Sep 2007

According to one report in a local newspaper, drivers in one county could be risking invalidating their car insurance claims if they fail to wear a seatbelt whilst driving.

Police in Northamptonshire apparently voiced concern over the number of drivers who continue to not wear a seatbelt. The Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph reported that many motorists were still committing the offence, and potentially invalidating their car insurance claims.

The police were surprised by how many customers were found to not wear seatbelts, and voiced their most recent initiative to educate drivers about the need to wear seatbelts. Any driver not wearing a seatbelt, as well as risking their life, risks being unable to claim on their motor insurance policy.
