Young motorists who are worried about costly car insurance premiums they may have to pay when they purchase their first vehicle can take certain steps to lower their car insurance costs, an expert has said.
Direct Line is advising that young drivers follow their steps to getting lower car insurance quotes of car insurance companies .
A spokesperson for the firm commented that motorists may want to purchase a car with a small engine and keep the mileage down.
She warned that older cars with bigger engines may command more expensive car insurance premiums.
Another option is to take the pass plus course, which can save drivers money on their car insurance policy .
"It is a government-run initiative and it is six one-hour sessions and it costs around £100 to take and you can do this and get up to 35 per cent off," she remarked.
Direct Line was originally a car insurance firm set up in 1985, but now offers home insurance and travel insurance to customers.
