Rugby fans in car insurance warning

Tue, 16 Oct 2007

Rugby fans have been urged to make sure their car insurance covers them before they head off to France this weekend.

With the England team shocking and delighting the nation by edging past Australia before beating France in scintillating style, car insurance expert NFU Mutual has said that driving on foreign roads offers many pitfalls.

England are facing South Africa, who comprehensively beat them in the group stages of the World Cup . But in order to avoid a similar catastrophe on the road, NFU Mutual has given a number of tips to drivers.

Hints such as topping up fluids, ensuring tyres are at the correct pressure and removing any radar-detecting equipment can all help one to avoid the pain of a car insurance policy - if not the pain of defeat.

Laura Wood from NFU Mutual commented: "As people frantically book up the remaining Channel crossings in the hope of seeing their team lift the trophy for a second time, insurance is probably the last thing on their mind."

If England are to be successful, it will be a major challenge against a talented and determined South Africa side which saw off the challenge of Argentina in the semi-finals.
