Crackdown on Bracknell speeders

Mon, 15 Oct 2007

Car insurance customers may be boosted by the news that Bracknell's roads could be a little bit safer as Thames Valley Police are to crack down on speeders.

Checks conducted in September led to 67 drivers being caught speeding. Speeding is an offence that is likely to earn drivers a fine, points on their licence and further complications when they renew their car insurance policies .

And new sets of roadside enforcement conducted on October 10th and 11th saw 25 and 23 drivers respectively stopped for breaking the law.

In addition to causing a threat to themselves, speeding drivers could well put the car insurance no-claims discounts of other road users in jeopardy with their unsafe practices.

PC Bob Wade, Road Safety Constable for Berkshire East, commented "It is disappointing to find so many motorists who completely ignore the speed limits.

"It is clearly a high priority for police action by residents on these roads."

He added that some speeding drivers will be offered speed awareness courses in a bid to make them safer drivers.

Other issues that can lead to more expensive car insurance claims include drink driving and vehicle theft .
